- Types of Aid
If you are a man ages 18 through 25 and living in the U.S., then you must register with Selective Service. It’s the law.
You will not receive your Title IV financial aid or financial aid funded in whole or in part by this state unless you are registered with Selective Service. If you have not registered or need to verify that you are registered please visit the Selective Service website.
You can register at any U.S. Post Office and do not need a social security number. When you do obtain a social security number, let Selective Service know.
Members of the National Guard or Reserves, not on active duty, and members discharged from active duty before their 26th birthday must register with Selective Service. All immigrant alien males, other than those admitted on nonimmigrant visas, must register (whether or not they have an alien registration card).
If selective service verification is required, please send a copy of your selective service registration, including your EIU identification number to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, Eastern Illinois University, 600 Lincoln Ave, Charleston, IL 61920-3099.
