Are you interested in working with individuals and families? The courses in the School of Family and Consumer Sciences provide the foundation for challenging careers. As a student you can benefit from excellent classroom instruction by our faculty as you complete your Bachelor of Science degree. You will be advised by one of our School of Family and Consumer Sciences Advisors.
You can participate in the Student Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, one of the largest of the nation. Your goal may be to become a member of Kappa Omicron Nu, an honorary society which has won national awards.
Internships are an integral part of our programs of study. These internships or student teaching experiences provide you the opportunity for "hands on" learning in your chosen curriculum while completing your degree requirements.
Our program is accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, and the dietetic internship is granted accreditation status by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, 120 Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606-6995, (312) 899-5400. The School of Family and Consumer Sciences enjoys a long tradition of excellence (over 100 years) at Eastern Illinois University. Our faculty and students have a reputation of leadership in state, national and international organizations.

The School of Family and Consumer Sciences is accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and was the first school accredited by American Home Economic Association now known as AAFCS in October, 1974. Our program was recently accredited through Spring 2022.
