Dagni Bredesen's Vita
Dagni Bredesen joined EIU's English department in 2001. Her research on Victorian widowhood and on nineteenth-century female detectives has been published as journal articles and in essay collections. She has edited a volume for Scholar’s Facsimiles and Reprints comprising two 1864 yellowbacks, the first works in British fiction to feature professional women detectives—The Female Detective and Revelations of a Lady Detective—published in 2010. She has recently completed a new edition of the penny dreadful Ruth the Betrayer or the Female Spy, which will be forthcoming from Valancourt Books.  Professor Bredesen is at work on a monograph Detecting a Profession for Victorian Women. She teaches writing and literature classes at all levels, for English majors, Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Minors, as well as  general education courses.  Ever engaged in international studies on and off EIU's campus, Dagni Bredesen directs study abroad programs to the UK and South Africa. 

Dr. Bredesen's office hours: Mondays and Wednesdays 10-10:50am and Tuesdays 2-3pm or by appointment.
