Who will be there?

We have invited educators from across east central Illinois and from all levels including K-12 teachers, specialists and administrators and EIU faculty, pre-service teachers and staff. 

How do I know if other teachers like me will be there?

We cannot guarantee that educators exactly like you will be there since there is no one exactly like you. We are hoping for a wide variety of participants from different content areas and grade levels. However, like you, they will all be enthusiastic and ready to share great ideas. Reach out in your social media circles to discuss and encourage others to attend.

Do I need to register or can I just show up?

We strongly encourage you to register before June 14th. Since food is provided, we need to know how many mouths to feed. Also, we do have a maximum attendance number. Register ahead of time to ensure a spot. Click here to register.

Will I know the schedule beforehand?

Yes and no. Our Topics and Session Host Page will evolve and provide information about suggested sessions and hosts. As we get closer to the date, we may post a grid with information. Please send us your topic suggestions or volunteer to host a session through the Introduce Yourself survey, via Twitter or send Cindy an email at 

I’m not sure if I want to host a session. Can I decide when I get to Edcamp EIU?

Yes. We will leave time slots open for any impromptu sessions or discussions. 

Is there anything I need to do before Edcamp EIU?

There are a few things you need to do to prepare for Edcamp EIU.

  • Make sure to register. Follow this link to let us know that you will be there.
  • You may sign up to host a session.
  • Tell your friends! Tweet it! Facebook it! Sing it from the mountain tops (Ok, we don’t have mountain tops here but you get the idea.) Spread the word and encourage others to join you.
  • Follow us on Twitter ( @edcampEIU).

What will I take away?

Ideas, connections, door prizes, giveaways!

What should I bring?

How much or how little you want to bring is up to you. Here are some suggestions.

  • Bring your own (charged) device (laptop, tablet, iPad, notebook and pen, any other device you need). There will be free wifi access in the building and you may need it for the some of the sessions.
  • Business cards. You might want to follow-up with some of the people you meet.
  • Ideas to share and questions to ask.

How much does it cost?

Nothing, nada, zilch, zero. This event is completely free for all participants.

Is there food?

Yes. A light breakfast will be served.

Do I need to be there the entire morning?

If you can’t stay the entire morning, that is fine. However, door prize winners will be drawn at the end of the event. To receive PD hours you must attend the entire event.
