Eastern Illinois University’s COVID-19 Data Dashboard is a source of information for our various communities. It combines information from multiple sources to illustrate and track the impact of COVID-19 on the EIU community. Data tracking began July 13, 2020, corresponding with the University’s first identified case.
COVID-19 cases reported on this dashboard include positive, laboratory-verified test results reported to the University. Confidentiality laws prohibit the University from disclosing any identifying information about affected individuals. Those testing positive will be isolated, and those believed to be at risk for exposure will be contacted with requests to self-quarantine per University protocol. When possible, any student living on campus who tests positive would be directed to return to their home residence.
This page will be updated weekly.
PLEASE NOTE: University positivity rates cannot be determined from dashboard data alone, because 1) all positive cases related to EIU are reported to EIU, even those outside Coles County; 2) a substantial population of EIU students and employees regularly test outside of EIU, and we do not know how many of these tests were or are being administered; and 3) while positive cases are reported immediately to aid in on-campus mitigation, negative test results generally arrive more slowly over time or may not be reported to EIU.
