Policy for Active and Inactive Courses in D2L

When a D2L course is active, it is accessible to the students enrolled in the course. Often courses have different start dates and not all instructors use D2L for all courses, therefore, it is the instructor's responsibility to make the course active when the course begins and inactive when the course ends.

Often instructors fail to inactivate the course at the end of the semester.  Therefore, the COL will automatically make all courses inactive at the end of the semester the course was offered. The courses will be made inactive the day after final grades are due for that semester. If you want student access to your course to end before that time, you will need to make your course inactive.  Likewise if you determine students need to access the course after the semester ends, you will need to make the course active again.  Student inquiries regarding course access will be directed to the instructor.

If you have questions, contact the Director of the Center for Online Learning at col@eiu.edu. If you need assistance using D2L, contact the Center for Online Learning at 217-581-8452 or col@eiu.edu
