Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Technology

General Requirements for B.S. in Computer and Information Technology (CIT)

The following describes the general requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Technology.  Those requirements were designed to meet the educational standards of the university or related professional organization.

1. Credit Hour Requirement and Distribution:

Students must meet the following credit hour requirements to receive a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Technology (CIT) degree:

2. General Education (33 hours):

 A total of 33 hours of general education courses is required by the university to prepare students to become well-rounded professionals.


3. Mathematics: (6-7 hours):

 a. MAT 2120G Finite Mathematics (3-0-3);
Prerequisites & Notes:MAT 1271 with C or better, or satisfactory placement by department guidelines

b. BUS 2810 Business Statistics I (3-0-3);
Prerequisites & Notes: Sophomore standing.

or MAT 2250G Elementary Statistics (4-0-4);
Prerequisites & Notes: MAT 1271; or satisfactory placement by department guidelines.


4. Physical Sciences (8 hours):

a. PHY 1151G Principles of Physics I (3-0-3);

b. PHY 1152G Principles of Physics I Laboratory (0-2-1);

c. PHY 1161 Principles of Physics II (3-0-3);

d. PHY 1162 Principles of Physics II Laboratory (0-2-1).


5. Required technical and management courses as well as elective courses can be found in the corresponding sections related to BS in Computer and Information Technology (CIT), or BS in CIT with Management Information Systems (MIS) minor, or BS in CIT with Media Technology minor, respectively.
