Guidelines for commencement by exceptionality requests:

**Students Requesting to Participate in Spring Commencement by Exceptionality:
• Must have applied to graduate in the summer term and able to complete all degree requirements in the summer,
OR
• Must have applied to graduate in the fall term and, after spring semester, have student teaching, internship, or practicum as their only remaining requirement to complete in the fall.

**Students Requesting to Participate in Fall Commencement by Exceptionality:
• Must have applied to graduate in the spring term and only have student teaching, internship, or practicum remaining to complete in the spring.

Reason for Exceptionality

Reason for Exceptionality I will complete all of my remaining degree requirements in the summer. I only have student teaching, internship, or practicum to complete. I completed my degree in a previous term.
Provide detailed plan for completing degree requirements (course number, transfer college, requirements, etc.)
If your request is denied, you may appeal the decision with the College of Education Health & Human Services Dean. Contact your certification officer, Amy Annis (amannis@eiu.edu), about additional information you may be required to submit for appeal consideration. Keep in mind, unless unique considerations warrant it, the appeal will not be granted if you do not meet the criteria above or the established deadline for submitting your request. The decision in the dean's office is final.
