    The Illinois Secretary of State’s Office will discuss organ/tissue donation which includes an overview of the program, the donor registry, and statistics on donation and transplantation; the critical need for donated organs; how to be a donor; and dispel the myths and misconceptions of donation. Liz Hager, the designer of the program will answer any and all questions regarding donation. Liz will be joined by a mother whose son was a former EIU student. The mother will be examining their decision-making process of organ donations, as well as how organ donations have impacted her personal life and the lives of other individuals. Brochures and other materials will be furnished.

    On Thursday, October 18 from 7-8 pm in Buzzard Hall 1121 Charity Huwe and Cobi Christiansen (Fall 2016 EIU Graduates) will share their experiences student teaching and traveling overseas through the Consortium for Overseas Student Teaching (COST).  Charity completed 7 weeks of her student teaching in the Netherlands while Cobi completed 7 weeks of his student teaching in Australia.

     

    If you have ever wondered:

    • Should I consider completing part of my student teaching overseas through the COST program?

    • What would it be like to Study/Student Teaching Overseas?

    • What would it be like to Teach in another country?

    • What is Education like in other countries?

    • How do children in other countries picture the United States?

    Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are used to map spatial patterns, monitor changes in the environment and design and plan for the future both locally and around the world. This talk will highlight some of the ways that EIU students have been using GIS to explore the world around them, involving topics ranging from land use change to trail design, crime, politics and the environment.
