Wednesday, 03 October, 2018 @ 12:00 PM - 01:30 PM |
Two early prominent citizens of this area, Levin Cartwright and Byrd Monroe, contributed to Coles County during the 1830-1850s time period in distinctly different ways. One embraced the hunting and gathering lifestyle, while the other brought an entrepreneurial spirit to us - pursuing many opportunities to establish businesses for profit. You will learn about personalities, history, and intriguing local lore from historian Dick Hummel.
