Preserving History in Old Photos

Wednesday, 09 May, 2018 @ 12:00 PM - 01:30 PM |

Bonnie Parr, Historical Documents Conservator of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum, will present a program about preserving old family photographs. She will talk about the proper environment for the long-term preservation of photographs, explain and show examples of archival enclosures, and give guidelines on proper handling of these unique and often very fragile materials. Attendees will learn what factors affect the longevity of photographs, understand what is meant by “acid free” paper and which types of plastics are “archival”, and learn useful tips for handling and managing their collections of old family photographs.
