EIU Student Research and Creative Activity Conference – Friday March 23, 2018
Eastern Illinois University invites all students doing independent research, scholarship, or creative activity in any discipline to share their work at the Student Research and Creative Activity Conference. There will be diverse opportunities for sharing through posters, short presentations, panels, round-tables, performances, and displays of artwork. Students will have the opportunity to hone their skills as presenters and to talk about their work with fellow students, faculty, and staff from across the university. Graduate and undergraduate students are invited to participate.

The Department of Music at Eastern Illinois University is proud to present guest artist Benjamin Hay, trumpet, in a free recital at 7:30pm on Monday, April 9, 2018 in the Recital Hall of the Doudna Fine Arts Center. Assisted by collaborative pianist Dr. Jonathon Bowman, Mr. Hay will present a variety of works for trumpet by J.S. Bach, Kevin McKee, Adam Cuthbért, Michael Daugherty, and Peter Maxwell Davies.
Mr. Hay serves as the Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. IHSA Tournament: State Journalism Finals |
More than 350 of the top high school journalists in Illinois will compete on site in 17 categories and for individual and team bragging rights in the annual contest, sponsored by the IHSA and hosted and managed by the journalism department. Illinois Press Association/ EIU High School Journalism Workshop |
The IPF/EIU High School Journalism Workshop is an 11-day residential program that provides students an intimate look at journalism as a career. The goal is to educate students about the journalism profession, including approaches by modern, digital newsrooms. The workshop introduces students to the complete process of publishing news: gathering and validating information, substantiating and using multiple sources, writing news, editing, designing, and production. Better Government Association's Watchdog Training |
The Better Government Association, a full-service, nonpartisan, watchdog organization committed to ensuring good government and promoting accountability, is conducting one of its "Watchdog Training" sessions on campus. The training is two hours long, teaches people the basics of the Freedom of Information Act, how to file a FOIA request, and what to do in the event that a FOIA request is denied. This training is conducted by Annum Haider, BGA's Civic Engagement & Research Analyst, and the BGA's outside attorney, Matt Topic.
