Gee’s Bend Quilters Lecture and Trunk Show
Sunday, 14 October, 2012 @ 02:00 PM - 04:00 PM |
Members of the famed Gee’s Bend (Alabama) quilters will show and talk about their quilts. For over two centuries, the women of Gee's Bend have developed a distinctively bold and sophisticated quilting style based on traditional patchwork quilts combining African, European and Native American traditions.
The Gee’s Bend quilters and quilts have been featured on PBS and NPR, in Smithsonian magazine, and at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Sponsored by the Mattoon Arts Council and Mattoon Tourism Office in cooperation with the Tarble Arts Center.Categories: Lectures/Seminars | Tarble Arts Center
