Justin Miller: Visiting Artist’s Lecture

Thursday, 11 October, 2012 @ 07:30 PM - 09:00 PM |

Miller’s paintings have been described as “meticulously rendered, finely wrought realist sci-fi fantasies of a bio-medical graveyard that take place in the (maybe not so distant future); after the experiments have concluded and the labs have been abandoned.” Some of his more recent works, painted-on vintage photographs, also deal with the issue of appropriation.

Miller is an assistant professor of studio art at Southeast Missouri State University. He has a BA and MA from Eastern Illinois University and an MFA from the University of Notre Dame and is represented by Zg Gallery in Chicago.

This is a New and Emerging Artists Series program presented by the EIU Department of Art and the Tarble Arts Center. This exhibition will serve as a subject for the 2012 Junior/Senior High School Art Enrichment, Oct. 9 – Nov. 2, presented with the EIU Art Education program and underwritten by First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust.
