EIU Dancers Showcase
Friday, 28 March, 2014 @ 07:30 PM - 09:00 PM |
The Eastern Illinois University Dancers will present their 33rd annual spring concert entitled ‘Inspired Connections’ on Friday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 29, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. These performances will take place at The Theatre in Doudna Fine Arts Center and doors open a half-hour before each performance. General admission is $10/ ticket, and $5 for students and seniors. Tickets are being sold at the Doudna Fine Arts Center Box Office (581-3110) and online at www.doudnatix.com.
The theme of ‘Inspired Connections’ is based on our interpretation of relationships with family, friends, and love, and how each of these connections inspire us as dancers and performers. The performance will consist of 17 dance pieces, and the type of music featured will be as diverse as the types of dance represented, to musical artists such as Jay-Z, Toby Mac, Prince Royce, Jennifer Hudson, Earth, Wind & Fire, among others.
A presence on EIU’s campus for the last thirty-three years, the EIU Dancers are a Recognized Student Organization, dedicated to furthering the understanding and appreciation of dance on campus and the surrounding community. The EIU Dancers is sponsored by the departments of Kinesiology & Sports Studies, Theatre Arts and the DanceLife Center. Comprised of 15 EIU students with various majors, the EIU Dancers’ repertoire includes modern dance, ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and character pieces. Auditions are held in April and September, and rehearsals start immediately for a spring concert.
‘Inspired Connections’ is a foot tapping, energetic production and will be enjoyable for all ages. Please plan to attend.
