Sigma Xi Annual Banquet and Speaker

You are cordially invited to the 17th Annual Sigma Xi banquet to be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014, in the Grand Ballroom (MLK Jr. Union Building). Distinguished Sigma Xi Lecturer Dr. Paul D. Simmons will give a free public lecture at 7 pm. Simmons is a medical ethicist who has training in theology and philosophy, doing post-doctoral work at Cambridge and Princeton Universities. He is involved in the national and international debates through speaking and writing on topics such as abortion, genetics, in-vitro fertilization, stem-cell research, elective death and health care. His special interest is in the relation of religion, science and public policy. He brings theological insights into conversation with scientific and legal dimensions of each issue. Dr. Simmons will be presenting 'The Great Stem Cell Debate' after the banquet that begins at 5:30 pm (Cajun style). To attend the banquet, please send $18.00 check payable to Sigma Xi to Tena L. McNamara, Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences, to be received by Friday, March 28th, 2014. Banquet tickets at the door will be $25.00.
