WHAM Concert: Elaine Fine and John David Moore
Friday, 28 February, 2014 @ 07:30 PM | Cost:Admission is free
As a part of Women's History and Awareness Month (WHAM), John David Moore and Elaine Fine will play their annual concert of music at the Tarble Arts Center. This year's concert will focus on music written by four women.
The four 19th century highlighted musicians include Amanda Maier, who was born in Sweden and studied in Germany. Also featured is music by Emilie Mayer, who spent her entire life and career in Germany. Another artist is Clara Kathleen Rogers, who was born in England, studied in Leipzig, and settled in Boston. Florence Price's work will also be featured. She was born in Little Rock, Ark. and studied in Boston, and made most of her career in Chicago.
The featured composers, though they were well-regarded during their lifetimes, were 'unsung' for generations.
This event is co-sponsored by the EIU Women's Studies Program and Tarble Arts Center.Categories: Music Department | Tarble Arts Center | Women's Studies
