Thursday, 27 February, 2014 @ 05:00 PM | Cost:Free
The Minority Teachers Education Association will host an African-American Heritage forum entitled 'Black Faces in the Classroom' Thursday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m., in the Coleman Hall Auditorium (CH 1255).
During this event, a discussion concerning the issues of why African-American History is not canonized within the contextual materials of the United States educational system will occur. We will also discuss the lack of African-American educators’ presence within the educational system and the effects on African-American students.
This forum is inspired by the documentary More Than a Month, created by filmmaker Shukree Hassan Tilghman.
Special guest speakers include English professors Dr. Tim Engles and Dr. Jamila D. Smith.
