Thursday, 19 September, 2013 @ 05:00 PM - 07:00 PM | Cost:Academy Members: $20.00; Non-members: $40.00
The current efforts by health-oriented groups and units of local government to regulate dietary sugar follows a close parallel to early efforts to regulate tobacco, especially in minors. Part of this effort rests on a new understanding that sugar is a toxic and weakly addictive substance. We will identify parallels between sugar consumption, health outcomes, behavior, environmental influences, public policy and the history of changing attitudes and behavior regarding tobacco use. Instructed by Sally Ryan.
