HOLI: Festival of Colors

Friday, 19 April, 2013 @ 02:00 PM - 04:00 PM | Cost:free!

So maybe you've heard about this colorful day ..

On Friday, April 19, we will celebrate Holi on EIU's campus. If you've seen colorful faces on campus and wondered what it's all about, here's the deal.

* Holi is traditionally celebrated in India and Nepal, and is most often referred to as the 'Festival of Colors.' It is a celebration of spring, and friendship.

* Water + gulal + you. Holi starts with water, lots of it. Gulal is a food-based dye in powder form - that's where all the color comes from. We've ordered plenty for you to share with your friends.

* Pull some old clothes on (a white or light-colored t-shirt will show the dye best). Follow the music to the Library Quad on the afternoon of Friday, April 19, and color your cares away.

* Big thanks to University Board, Minority Affairs & Celebration of the Arts for their support. Thumbs up to our supporting RSO's: Asian American Association, International Student Association, Study Abroad Society and friends!
