A Concert of Women’s Music by Elaine Fine and John David Moore
Friday, 01 March, 2013 @ 07:30 PM | Cost:Admission is free
For the 2013 WHAM concert, Elaine Fine and John David Moore will play a concert of music for viola and piano by Rebecca Clarke, Helene Fleury, Ruth Gipps, Clara Schumann, and Elaine Fine.
Since its 'rediscovery' in the 1980s, Rebecca Clarke's 1921 Viola Sonata has become a staple piece of the viola and piano repertoire, and Clara Schumann has become quite well known for her music for solo piano. Many people on the EIU campus and in the area are familiar with Elaine Fine's music, but the early-20th-century French composer Helene Fleury and the
British composer Ruth Gipps (1921-1999) are relative newcomers to the WHAM 'canon.'
