CPT Sandis Sullivan

Assistant Professor of Military Science

INTRODUCTION

Captain Sandis Sullivan II was a prior petroleum supply specialist and Non-Commissioned Officer serving in two combat tours in support of Iraqi Freedom under the 3rd Armor Calvary Regiment, 2003-2004 and 2005-2006, before being commissioned as second lieutenant in the Quartermaster Branch, following graduation from the Officer Candidate School, at Fort Benning, Georgia in 2008. As a lieutenant, he served as Platoon Leader and Executive Officer for 565th Quartermaster Company, 553rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, at Fort Hood, Texas.  He deployed in September 2010 – September 2011, as the Company Executive Officer under the 4th Sustainment Brigade in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn (Tallil, Iraq).

 

Immediately following his deployment in 2011, CPT Sullivan served as the Deputy Support Operations Officer and Transportation OIC for the 553rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas.  He attended the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course in 2013, and then assigned to the 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division at Joint Base Lewis McCord, Washington, as the Deputy Support Operations Officer and General Support Officer for the 2nd Brigade Support Battalion. While at Fort Lewis, he commanded Echo Forward Support Company, 14th Engineer Battalion for over 15 months. 

 

Immediately following Company Command, CPT Sullivan deployed with the 7th Infantry Division as part of the Division G4 and Train, Advise, Assist Command-South (Kandahar, Afghanistan). Once in the country, he was attached to Advise Assist Command-South West as the Lead Logistics Planner and Logistics Advisor from December 2015- June 2016 in support of the 215th Corps Afghanistan National Army (Helmand Province, Afghanistan). He assumed responsibility as the Assistant Professor of Military Science at Eastern Illinois University in September 2016.     

 

CPT Sullivan's military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters.

 

CPT Sullivan was raised in Charleston, South Carolina.  He currently resides in Champaign, Illinois, with his wife D'andra, and their two children, Claudia and Sandis III.
