The Department of Theatre Arts at Eastern Illinois University provides students with the opportunity to participate in theatre at all levels. Offering a BA in theatre arts and a BA in theatre arts leading to teacher certification, students at Eastern have opportunities to perform, design and direct. The very active production program including 3-4 faculty directed productions, student productions and a variety of tour experiences gives students many opportunities to participate in the program.
The production program is balanced with a rigorous academic regime that provides students with a firm base in theatre studies. Graduates of this program move into the secondary teaching fields (100 percent placement over the life of the program), graduate studies, as well as moving directly into professional field.

Study Abroad Opportunities
Ireland, Italy. An upcoming summer 2017 trip being planned for Ireland.
Students are actively engaged in creative activity throughout the year via our production season. This year, student directors and designers presented one-act plays as a major departmental production slot. One student wrote and directed his play, which was featured in the annual research symposium. Several students participated in Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival.
