Each year, in the month of March, the Women's Studies Program sponsors programs in celebration of Women's History and Awareness Month. Programming is currently underway for March 2008. As part of our celebration of Women's History & Awareness Month, the EIU Women's Studies Program invites students to submit essays or scholarly papers that incorporate a feminist perspective to our writing contest. Papers written during the previous calendar year (spring, summer, or fall semesters) or the spring semester in which the submissions are due are eligible. A cash award will be presented to the contest winners -graduate and undergraduate- at our annual awards reception at the Tarble Arts Center during Women's History & Awareness Month in March. Deadline for entries is 4:00 p.m.on the first MONDAY in February. For detailed information, see our Writing Contest Rules form. Also during our annual celebration of Women's History and Awareness Month at EIU, the Women's Studies Program sponsors "Women of Achievement" Awards. Anyone can nominate a woman who has made significant contributions to our community or to EIU. For details, consult the Women of Achievement nomination guidelines. To view a list of previous Women of Achievement Award Winners see Women of Achievement. Deadline for submissions is 4:00 p.m.on the first MONDAY in February. |
