Hello!  My name is Angie Alfano.  I am a senior at Eastern Illinois University with a double major in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education with a concentration in Sociology.  I graduate with my Bachelor's Degree in December 2001.  As part of my Block II experience, I enrolled in the Project WOW section of the Social Studies Methods course.  I was looking for a challenge, and something a little out of the ordinary "book work."  I definitely got what I was looking for!

I have thoroughly enjoyed working with my Project WOW team.  Our Illinois "Hero" was John Deere.  I chose to be the facilitator of the John Deere team because I come from a farming community, and have some knowledge about John Deere tractors and machinery.  By facilitating the John Deere team, I found out a lot of information that I did not know about John Deere, his life, and the company that he began.  My teammates and I all learned a lot about John Deere and where the company is today.

I really enjoyed working with my teammates, and know that all three of my students: Chris, Josh, and Scott will be very successful in their future educational endeavors!  They are bright students and have been a pleasure to work with.  I wish them all the best now and always!

Now...a little more about me:
I am from northern Illinois, near the Rockford area.  I love to collect Mickey Mouse, teddy bears, and clowns and I enjoy being outside during all of the seasons!  In the summer I enjoy boating, water-skiing, tubing, playing tennis, taking walks, and just being in the sunshine!  During the winter I enjoy snowmobiling, sledding, and having snowball fights!  In spring and fall, I enjoy watching everything change.  I like seeing the flowers growing in the spring and the leaves changing in the fall.  During these months, I also like to cheer on Eastern's Lacrosse team!  Most of all, I enjoy smiling and laughing!  My friends and family are the most important things to me, and most of my time with them is filled with laughter!  If I can bring a smile to someone's face, my day is made!  :)

After I graduate, I hope to start my career teaching in either Kindergarten or first grade.  I enjoy being around young children, and watching them grow...although, children of all ages make me smile!  I look forward to having my own classroom and my "very own" students!  Someday, after some time in teaching, I would like to open my own daycare center...but only time will tell if that happens!
