Interesting Facts about Georgia O'Keefe
 

    Georgia was born on November 15, 1887 (the same birth day, not year, as our team leader, Tiffany) in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. From there Georgia moved all over the United States to places such as New York, New Mexico, Virginia and Texas. Not only was she a painter but she was also a teacher of the arts. Georgia at many art schools and universities. However she is most famous for her flower paintings. She also painted desert scenes, city scapes, and bones.

    Miss O'Keefe also loved to travel. She once traveled down the Colorado River on a rubber raft. She also spent three months flying around the world during 1959.

    Did you know Georgia became a painter quite by accident. She had always loved the art and was sending some of her work to an old college roommate. When her roommate recieved the letter and pictures she thought they were so wonderful that she showed them to her friend Alfred Stieglitz. Stieglitz owned a gallery in New York where Georgia's work was first shown. In 1924 Georgia and Alfred married.
