Pioneers At Work
A replica of a sod house created by Haven and Emory.
We found that building a real sod house was really a lot of work.
The sod had to be cut into bricks three feet thick.

A replica of a dug out house created by Mason and Nathan.
Real dugout houses were mostly underground. Sometime the pioneers
made a dugout to stay in while they did the work of building a sod
house.
Here
is the story: of building a house on their new land.
You can see a picture of a sod house with a collapsed roof -- just like
ours!
