Louisa volunteered as an army nurse.  She nursed soldiers who were wounded in the Civil War.   She wanted all the slaves to be free.  During her nursing she got sick and was never healthy again.
She wrote many great stories and poems including the famous Little Women!  She also taught kindergarten in Boston.
