EIU Facilitators for the Jane Addams Team
Melissa Kennedy
Hello, I am a senior Elementary Education
Major at Eastern Illinois University with a concentration in Psychology.
I will be student teaching in the fall of 2001 and I will graduate at the
end of the fall semester. My future plans are to receive a teaching position
in my home town of Ottawa Illinois. I have two brothers; Jason, who is
two years older than me and Joe, who is thirteen years younger than me.
I really enjoyed the experience I
had working with Project Wow, the students were great and really enthused
to learn about Jane Addams. I was also very interested in learning about
Jane Addams and all of her life's accomplishments. Jane Addams devoted
her life to helping people in need, and I think this is what makes Jane
so astonishing to me.

Hi! I am a senior at Eastern Illinois
University. I am majoring in elementary education with a concentration
of Spanish. I have gained a lot of experience with children during
my time at EIU. But having the opportunity to be involved in this
Illinois Hero project with the students at Carl Sandburg has been one of
the best. I am very proud of the effort put forth by these children
to complete this website.
I really enjoyed working with
my team and learning about an amazing woman. Jane Addams accomplished
a lot during her lifetime and is still remembered today. I benefited
greatly from this experience and I hope this will inspire many young people
to follow their dreams despite the obstacles life throws at us.
