MLK Day of Service
Come out to EIU's eighth annual MLK Day of Service and make a difference in your local community! The annual event honors Dr. King’s legacy and is an opportunity for Americans to renew their own personal vows of citizenship through service to others.
Volunteers are asked to check-in on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at 12 p.m. in the University Ballroom. Service projects will last from 12:30-3 p.m. Please make sure to bring a sack lunch with you! Most projects this year will take place on campus! Individuals can sign up by clicking here! Volunteers will not need to choose a specific project. Groups of 10 volunteers or more may sign up by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with your group name, number of volunteers, name of all volunteers, and volunteers email addresses.
For this great service day, all volunteers will work together on various projects! MLK Day of Service is a national commitment to service and our community! To kick off this Service Day we will share a short video about Dr. Martin Luther King and have a brief small group discussion. Then everyone will begin their service projects.
Service projects will include creating school supply kits, working at Standing Stone Community Center, making bird feeders and flower pots for seniors, putting together receipe books for our food pantries, creating decorative coasters and love bugs, among other projects.
