The Office of Student Community Services (SCS) is here to help connect your passions and interests with the community. Listed on these pages are on-going volunteer activities in the Charleston area. Coming soon will be a guide to regional activities beyond Charleston including more opportunities in Mattoon and surrounding areas.
Also, there may be many special events that come up throughout the year. To stay most up-to-date, please email volunteer@eiu.edu and request to be placed on the service mailing list.

Volunteer Waiver
As a volunteer, I agree to assume the risks associated with the volunteer activity listed. I understand that I will not be covered under the University's workers' compensation program and I will receive no monetary benefit for my services. I release the University (and its governing board, employees and agents) from any and all liability, and I agree to indemnify and hold the University harmless for any claims that may arise from injury or harm to me, or damage to my property in connection with this activity. I further assure the University that I have adequate health insurance necessary to provide for and pay any medical costs that may result from my participation in this activity. I understand that this Release means I am giving up, among other things, rights to sue the University, its governing board, employees, and/or agents for injuries, damages, or losses I may incur.
