Friday, Oct. 2

University Tours

2-3:30 pm

Join the Panther Ambassadors for an afternoon stroll on campus. Learn not only about the campus buildings but also the history and folklore of EIU. Tours will leave every 15 minutes from the EIU gazebo in the Library Quad. Come to the Union after your tour and make your own caramel apples.

Student Recreation Center Tours & Activities

The Student Recreation Center will be open for your enjoyment all weekend– all you have to do is sign a waiver. You can participate in tours of the facility and drop-in activities. All equipment and areas of the facility will be available for use.


Friday Night Pasta Dinner

Observatory Open House

Meet under the walkway at the MLK Jr. Union.

Tour the observatory facility and observe the moon and other celestial objects through the 16” robotic telescope.

All families attending Family Weekend can enjoy a continental breakfast featuring bagels, assorted pastries, a fresh fruit salad and a choice of beverages.

Third Annual EIU Run for a Reason: Run Red

9 am
Campus Pond and Panther Trail
$25 entry fee

Join the EIU and Charleston communities for this 1.5-mile walk, run or wheel on the Panther Trail. Proceeds will benefit the local American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and the chance to win door prizes.

Sand Art Bottles

Featuring a deluxe turkey club wrap, gourmet chips, a fresh apple, a toffee crunch blondie bar and your choice of soft drink. The Food Court in the MLK Jr. Union will also be open.

Billy’s Backyard

Join Billy Panther in his backyard for fun and games before the football game. Try your luck on the mechanical bull, stop by the Parents Club tent for face painting, take a seat in some shade and browse Parents Club items for sale.

Wine Tasting

1 - 1:45 pm, 2:15 - 3 pm and 3:30 - 4:15 pm

Learn the nuances of wine tasting, including identifying the colors, aromas and flavors of wine. Must be at least 21 to attend. No children are allowed in the room during the event. Seats are limited (42) and participants must sign up at the door and present a valid ID beginning at 12:30 pm

Join us for fun and good food prior to the featured Family Weekend entertainment or other activities on your Saturday night agenda. We will be serving pork carnita, mesquite-grilled chicken breasts; roasted potatoes with cheese and bacon; macaroni and cheese; buttered corn on the cob; ceasar salad; fresh marinated vegetables; assorted breads and rolls; apple pie or carrot cake; Rice Krispies treats for the kids; and lemonade, tea and water.

The Family Weekend Breakfast Finale will give you and your family an opportunity to have a final meal together as the weekend draws to a close. The buffet will feature fresh fruit salad, freshly baked cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs topped with cheese, hashbrown casserole, fire-roasted apples, biscuits and gravy, sausage links, orange juice, coffee and water.
