About the Program
The Career and Organizational Studies (COS) Bachelor of Science Degree Program is in the Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences, School of Technology. COS is a distinct field of academic study focused on the understanding of the human aspects of the organization including people, processes, and practices. For over 35 years, the COS program has prepared students to assume professional roles in for-profit and not-for-profit settings. The program continues to gain popularity because of its flexible format and it is particularly well-suited for individuals interested in obtaining or advancing to supervisory or leadership positions. Since its inception, the program has been devoted to serving educational needs by offering courses in alternative formats (weeknights, weekends, and online) and at various locations (Charleston, Champaign, and Danville).
In an effort to better articulate the programs mission, our program name will change to Organizational and Professional Development (OPD) in the Fall of 2010.
