Eastern’s Special Education programs are designed to provide a dynamic core of information that functions as a base of specialization. Individuals who complete one of the courses of study in this department provide professional expertise and leadership in the development and implementation of educational programs. Additionally, program graduates have the skills necessary to coordinate the services of school, home and community agencies for individuals with exceptionalities.

The Eastern Illinois University Department of Special Education is dedicated to excellence and committed to providing personnel preparation programs for individuals who will be prepared to provide for the educational needs of individuals, birth through adulthood, with exceptionalities and their families. Excellence in teaching is delivered by a faculty dedicated to scholarship and service.
