Mission Statement
The Eastern Illinois University Department of Special Education is dedicated to excellence and committed to providing personnel preparation programs for individuals who will be prepared to provide for the educational needs of individuals, birth through adulthood, with exceptionalities and their families. Excellence in teaching is delivered by a faculty dedicated to scholarship and service.
Our programs prepare fully qualified individuals to function in a variety of professional roles. Our programs provide a dynamic core of information. Individuals completing Eastern’s special education program provide professional expertise and leadership in the development and implementation of educational programs in the localities where they are employed throughout the state of Illinois and across the United States.
