Richard & Kathy Hummel Sociology Anthropology Scholarship
Description: The recipient must be a full time Junior or first semester Senior, majoring in Sociology-Anthropology and accepted to Eastern Illinois University. The recipient must have at least 30 hours of Sociology-Anthropology completed or being completed during the semester the award is being made. The recipient must have at least one semester full time (12 semester hours minimum) to complete following receipt of the award. The recipient must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and a major GPA of at least 3.0. The recipient must have demonstrated responsibility by: 1. Recipient working part-time as a matter of support or paying college expenses; and/or, 2. The recipient participating regularly in a service organization (university or community) or serving as a volunteer for community service or improvement. The recipient must have demonstrated excellence in writing by submitting a quality research paper that was written for a Sociology course. The recipient must submit a resume detailing his/her qualifications for the award. The recipient may be eligible to apply for, and receive the award again provided she/he continues to meet the criteria stated above. The award shall be announced in the Spring semester and paid in the following Fall Semester. |

Stan, Dee and Meagan Braden Scholarship
Description: The recipient must be a full-time Junior or first semester Senior, majoring in Sociology, and accepted to Eastern Illinois University. The recipient must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 and a major GPA of at least 3.0. Robert and Luz M. Whittenbarger Sociology Scholarship
Description: The recipient shall be a full-time student majoring in Sociology, accepted to EIU. The recipient must have completed at least nine semester hours of credit in Sociology at the time of selection. The recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a major GPA of at least 3.0 at the time of selection, with the award given to the applicant with the highest major GPA. Financial need shall be a primary consideration. Only one award is intended to be given. In the case of two or more students who equally qualify, the selection committee shall base the decision on the student with the greatest number of completed semester hours in the Sociology major. |
