Faculty Position Available

EASTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY:  The Department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2008.  A PhD in sociology is required by the time of appointment.  The primary teaching responsibilities include Introduction to Criminology, Policing Society, Corrections, Introduction to Sociology or Social Problems; other secondary areas are open to complement departmental offerings.  All candidates must demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching.  The potential for research and publication is also expected.  The Department has 12 full-time faculty and 300 majors.  EIU is a regional comprehensive state university in a community of 20,000 in east central Illinois.  University enrollment is 11,000.  To ensure full consideration, applications should be received by November 1, 2007.  Electronic applications are encouraged, but paper applications are welcome.  Send application letter, curriculum vitae, three letters of reference, transcripts of all graduate work, and examples of research to:  Reed Benedict, Search Committee Chair, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Eastern Illinois University, 600 Lincoln Ave, Charleston, IL  61920; e-mail wrbenedict@eiu.edu .  Eastern Illinois University is an Equal Opportunity/Equal Access/Affirmative Action employer committed to achieving a diverse community.
