Styx www.eiu.edu/~union

EIU Parents and students alike will be rockin’ the night away as arena rock powerhouse Styx performs a long list of hits from their 4 four consecutive triple-platinum albums that include “Lady’ ”Come Sail Away,” “Renegade,” ”Blue Collar Man,” “Too Much Time on My Hands”, “Fooling Yourself,” ”The Best of Times,”  “Crystal Ball” and “The Grand Illusion” to name a few.

Spawned from a suburban Chicago basement in the early “70s, Styx eventually transformed into the virtual arena rock prototype and one of the best-selling rock bands in history.  In 1984, Styx went on hiatus, but a new generation of rock fans were introduced to the band’s distinct sound via the use of their songs in TV shows (“South Park” and “Freak and Geeks”.)

The timeless appeal of the band ‘s music has allowed Tommy Shaw, James “JY” Young, Lawrence Gowan, Todd Sucherman and Ricky Philips (along with the occasional surprise appearance by original bassist Chuck Panozzo) to perform more live since 1999 than in all of the previous years of their career combined.  Since reuniting, Styx has logged two Super Bowl appearances, joined chart-top-ping tours with Def Leppard, Journey, Boston, REO Speedwagon, Bad Company and other rock superstars; and recorded two more solo albums.

Don’t miss this chance to see the legendary band Styx live in Lantz Arena for two shows! Tickets are on sale NOW and can be purchased at the MLK Jr. Union, Box Office, M-F, 9am-3pm. For more information call (217) 581- 5122.
