School-based Cohort Immersion Program

Fall 2004 Calendar

Full Cohort Meeting, September 14
Our first meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, September 14 at 5:00 pm in Buzzard 2442.  The full cohort, including teachers, are invited to attend.  We will be discussing our Block I plans for Spring '05 with Mr. Carter, Mr. Carey, and the teachers, as well as international travel opportunities for May '05.  Please plan to attend!
 

Non-Verbal Discipline Cues: Panel Discussion led by Gary Francis, October 4
Mr. Gary Francis, 3rd grade teacher at Carl Sandburg, will lead a panel of teachers and a discussion on non-verbal discipline cues.  The meeting will be held on October 4 at 6:00 pm in Buzzard 2160. 
 

SCIP Priority Registration, October 11
Priority registration for Spring 2005 will occur on Monday, October 11.  Spring '05 class schedules will be distributed on October 4.
 

Students with Special Needs in the General Education Classroom, November 9
The SCIP cohort is invited to meet at Carl Sandburg School at 3:50 pm on Tuesday, November 9th.  A panel of teachers will discuss accommodations for students with special needs in the regular classroom.  This promises to be an extremely informative and authentic discussion.   The time assures that several teachers will be able to be with us.
 

Visit to Martin Luther King School, November 12
We will leave campus at 7:30 a.m. from the east side of Buzzard Building and embark on our journey to Martin Luther King Jr. School in Urbana, IL.  Mr. Carey and Mr. Carter will be traveling with us on the day of the trip.  After meeting with school principal Mr. Adcock and visiting classrooms, we will again have lunch at Dr. Michelle Olsen's office.  We plan to arrive back on campus at 3:30 pm. 
 

End of Semester Meeting, December 9
We will make our final preparations for Block I on December 9 at 6:00 pm in Buzzard 2442.  A student panel for discussion and reflection on Fall 2004 classroom experiences will be included.
