Communication Studies Grant-in-Aid Award

Description:  The Communication Studies department provides a number of grant-in-aid awards each semester to students who show promise or demonstrate talent in a selected field. To be eligible for this award, a student must meet one of the following criteria: 1. Earned a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or major GPA of 3.0, or a 3.0 GPA in high school, be admitted to the major or minor, and demonstrate profiency of some unique talent or skill that can benefit the department 2. Participate in a University or departmental priority activity (e.g. study abroad, integrative learning, student research), have earned a minimum GPA of 2.0, demonstrate financial need, and be a major or minor 3. Be selected by a faculty panel to recieve a scholarship or other award 4. Participate in a department sponsored activity 5. Win or place in a department sponsored contest Students must also provide one of the following: 1. Three letters of reference from individuals who can attest to a student's academic abilities 2. One letter of recommendation authored by a departmental faculty member 3. Signature of approval of a supervising faculty member Students must also provide a resume with a completed application, demonstrate significant leadership service, contributions and invovlement within the EIU community, Charleston community or respective organizations and be in good standing with the EIU student conduct code. Deadlines to apply for the 2012-2013 school year include the following: September 30th for Fall, February 14th for Spring and May 30th for Summer semesters.
