SPRING 2008 REGISTRATION

Registration for Spring 2008 will begin on Monday, October 8th. The registration system will be available 24/7 with the exception of weekly maintenance. The weekly maintenance will take place 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. During maintenance the system could shut down without warning.

To avoid having your Spring classes cancelled, your record must be clear by Thursday, January 3, 2008.

BANNER ALTERNATE PIN FOR REGISTRATION

Students must obtain an Alternate PIN from their academic advisor in order to access the New PAWS registration system. The Fall 2007 Alternate PIN will be used by the student to gain access to the registration system from March 26, 2007 through December 17, 2007. A new Alternate PIN will be issued for each term a student is enrolled. The following groups of students do not need an Alternate PIN to access the system:

Graduate and Post-Baccalaureate
Bachelor of General Studies
Career and Organizational Studies

Withdrawal with No Credit
Students withdrawing from a course or from the University within the first 10 class days of the semester receive no grade for the course. Students withdrawing from a course or from the University between the 11th day and the Friday of the 11 th week of the term will receive the grade designation of "W" or "Withdraw" on the transcript. Students may not initiate withdrawal from a course later than the Friday of the 11th week of the semester. Cutoff dates for intersession and summer terms are reduced proportionally. Specific withdrawal dates are listed in the Class Schedule published each term.

This policy was approved by the Council on Academic Affairs on January 19, 2006, effective Spring 2006.

Check your schedule just a couple of days before classes begin to make sure you have good schedule information (meeting place, time of class, etc.)

On at least a weekly basis, check your EIU e-mail account for important information from various campus offices, such as Financial Aid, Office of the Registrar, Textbook Rental Services, Student Accounts.

Continuing Education Classes

Contact the Office of Continuing Education for information regarding classes generally taught at off-campus sites.  Phone 1-800-446-8918  (toll-free from IL) or (217) 581-5114; e-mail to offcmpus@www.eiu.edu.  Also, check out their website for a Continuing Education class schedule.

Technology-Delivered Courses

Be aware that not all on-line courses are listed in the on-campus schedule; on-line courses are also offered through Continuing Education.

Unclear Records/Cancellation of Classes

Students who have an outstanding balance on their student account run the risk of having their Spring 2008 classes cancelled. To ensure this does not happen, students must clear any holds no later than December 20, 2007.

The PAWS (Panther Access to Web Services) System is available for you to access your own personal student information via the World Wide Web.

Forgot Your PIN? Or PIN Isn't Working?

If you cannot come into the Registration Office with a photo I.D. to get your PIN, you may request one by completing and signing the form (see links below), and then mailing or faxing the form with a copy of your driver's license or state I.D. card to Registration at (217) 581-5972.

When the PIN request is received during work hours, your PIN should be changed (as you request it on the form) within 30 minutes after receipt of fax; if you try your requested PIN and it still does not work after the 30 minutes has elapsed, you may need to call us to see whether there is a problem..

Access Your Grades Via PAWS

You may print or view your grades from PAWS. For quicker access to grades, use the express link to PAWS (for viewing and printing only). You can change your home address on the Housing Office web page.

Print Your Own Schedule from PAWS

You may print or view your own schedule from PAWS. If you have a problem printing your schedule (so that all info shows), change it to landscape and/or reduce the margins before you print.

If you need a schedule that includes your name, social security number, or classification, you may have an official schedule printed in the Office of the Registrar by stopping by and presenting your photo I.D. or by sending in the completed form available at our website (pdf).
