Acceptance of Associate in Arts (A.A.)
or Associate in Science (A.S.) Degrees
If you are transferring to Eastern Illinois University without an
Associate in Arts (A.A.) or an Associate in Science (A.S.)or an Associate
in Science and Arts (A.S.A.) degree from an Illinois Community College,
Lincoln College or Springfield College, or the Illinois Articulation Initiative
(IAI) General Education Core Curriculum (GECC) you will have to
complete Eastern's General Education Requirements.
Fall 2000 and Previous Catalogs:
You have a 15 semester hour "grace period" to complete your A.A., A.S.,
A.S.A. degree, or the IAI GECC. Eastern will still consider your lower
level general education complete if:
Your initial enrollment at Eastern was Summer of 1982 or after
Your total semester hours earned at Eastern do NOT exceed 15
Re-admit Students - This means no more than 15
hours of an A.A. A.S., A.S.A. degree or the IAI GECC may be represented
by previous EIU credit.
New Students - This means you must complete
your A.A.,A.S., A.S.A. degree or the IAI GECC before you earn more
than 15 hours at Eastern.
Your cumulative Eastern G.P.A. must be 2.00 or higher
Your last work resulting in completion of an A.A., A.S., A.S.A. degree
or IAI GECC must be earned at an institution other than Eastern or concurrently
with course work at Eastern.
To sum it up...
You cannot use Eastern credits as the last
credits that a transfer agreement. But, you can attend Eastern
and another college at the same time. If you take the last credit towards
your a transfer agreement at an institution other than Eastern,
EIU will waive your lower level general education requirements as long
as you have NOT earned more than 15 semester hours at
Eastern Illinois University.
Fall 2001 and Subsequent Catalogs:
There is no hour limit in which to complete a transfer agreement. Students
who transfer without the A.A., A.S., A.S.A. degree, or the IAI GECC may
use Eastern credit to transfer back to complete an agreement. A student
may also return to a parent institution to finish a transfer agreement
with no time or hour limit.
Eastern Illinois University will recognize the agreement and consider
all lower level General Education Requirements complete as long as:
Your initial enrollment at Eastern was Summer of 1982 or after
Your cumulative Eastern G.P.A. must be 2.00 or higher.
