How to Apply for Graduation

Students may apply or reapply for graduation through PAWS

The application process must be completed by the published deadlines.

Verify, with your certifying dean, your date of graduation prior to the deadline date for the term you expect to graduate.

Degree Requirements Checklist

A Degree Requirements checklist, indicating your progress toward completion of the degree requirements, will be mailed to you by the Dean of Graduate School.

To obtain an updated degree checklist, contact your certifying dean's office. Reapplying will not generate another checklist.

Cap & Gown

Commencement Information (including how to order cap and gown) will be mailed to your permanent address.

Diploma Covers

Diploma covers are handed out at the commencement ceremonies. The actual diploma will be mailed to the address you indicate on your application card. (It may be three months after the close of the term, in which you graduate, before you receive your diploma).

Note: Participation in the commencement ceremony does not mean you have completed degree requirements and graduated. You will not be officially graduated until your certifying dean's office has sent notification of completion of all degree requirements to Records Office and the degree has been posted to your record.

Reapplication for Graduation

You will need to reapply for graduation if you wish to make such significant changes as:

Change of Name -- Your name will be changed on your diploma only if it is requested by the deadline.
Graduation Date -- This includes not graduating the semester or term for which you originally applied.
