Basic Skills
The Reading Center offers help with the Illinois Test Basic Skills preparation. Learning Plus!™ is a software program which will lead you through practice questions and will give you immediate feedback on your progress. Practice tests are available for Reading, Mathematics, and Writing. Please call 581-7898 for an appointment, or walk in to check to see if rooms are available.
Testing booklets can be picked up in the Dean’s Office in Buzzard Hall.
Teachers Education Programs
The Basic Skills Test is required for selection to Teacher Education programs. The Content Area/Subject Matter Knowledge Test is required prior to Student Teaching, and the Assessment of Professional Teaching Test is required in order to receive a teaching certificate. Consult your advisor relative to when you should take these tests.Registration
Registration for the Basic Skills Test is completed by mail or over the Internet through National Evaluation Systems. Registration materials may be picked up in the Dean’s Office, College of Education & Professional Studies or at your local Regional Office of Education. It may also be viewed over the Internet at www.icts.nesinc.com. This test is offered at numerous sites across the state.Other Information
