    1. LSAT (Law School Admission Test) Score
    2. Undergraduate GPA
    3. Personal Statement
    4. Letters of Recommendation

    Data on EIU Students, 2005-2006:


    • 88 Eastern Illinois University students took the LSAT during the 2005-2006 academic year
    • 58 of these students completed 236 applications to law schools
    • 81 of these 236 law school applications were accepted*
    • of these 58 students, 32 were accepted to one or more law schools
    • of these, 28 students registered at a law school for the 2006-2007 academic year

Pre-Law Scholarships (awarded Spring semester)

Warner-Brainard Pre-Legal Presidential Award

  • Eligibility criteria: Junior or Senior minoring in Pre-Law Studies; minimum GPA of 3.0; demonstrate outstanding scholastic achievement; person of outstanding character whose actions and conduct reflect credit upon EIU
  • Nomination letter from an EIU faculty member should be submitted to Karen Swenson
  • Award announced at Political Science Department Awards and Recongnition Dinner in April

J.Y. Kelly Scholarship

  • Eligibility criteria: Junior minoring in Pre-Law Studies; demonstration of outstanding scholarship and leadership
  • Nomination letter from an EIU faculty member should be submitted to Karen Swenson
  • Award announced at Political Science Department Awards and Recongnition Dinner in April

C.A. Hollister Scholarship

  • Eligibility criteria: Junior or Senior; minimum GPA of 3.25; minimum 4 courses in the Pre-Law minor curriculum; minimum one PLS public law course; active membership for one full year in Phi Alpha Delta
  • Application and Nomination letter from an EIU faculty member should be submitted to Karen Swenson; see Swenson for application
  • Award announced at Political Science Department Awards and Recongnition Dinner in April
