POSSIBLE PROBLEMS / SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:   The east entrance of Lumpkin Hall will be closed during this time for installation of new underground piping.  There will be general construction noise.

Demolition of Equipment

BUILDINGS OR AREAS INVOLVED:        Coleman Hall

DATE AND TIME:   7:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009  – 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009  (5 days)

PURPOSE OF PROPOSED OUTAGE:     Removal of unused equipment

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS / SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:   Potential levels of white (non-toxic) smoke and fumes in building, minimal temperature control availability (air handlers will be off), noise in courtyard and rooms near mechanical rooms from debris removal.

Two non-functional chillers are being removed from the building. Air handlers will not be operating while the work is progressing to minimize smoke migration within the building. Areas of potential smoke and fumes would be greatest at offices located directly over the work area (2300 & 2500 halls). Air handlers and ventilation will be operating following the work to flush ventilation air through the building to clear any residual smoke or fumes. Contractors will be using fans to remove smoke at the source as much as possible. Doors to the mechanical rooms will be taped off to reduce smoke infiltration.

 

 

Cooling Outage 

BUILDINGS OR AREAS INVOLVED:      Booth Library, Buzzard Building, Doudna Fine Arts, Lincoln Hall, Stevenson Tower, Douglas Hall, MLK Union, Lantz, Life Science, McAfee, Physical Science, Klehm Hall, Thomas Hall, Andrews Hall, Taylor Hall, Lawson Hall, Coleman Hall, Human Services  

DATE AND TIME:      November 16, 2009 through April 1, 2010

PURPOSE OF PROPOSED OUTAGE:    Upgrades to the campus chilled water loop

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS / SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:   During possible warm days this winter, cooling will not be available

 

 

Storm Water Upgrades

BUILDINGS OR AREAS INVOLVED:       Southeast Corner of Booth Library and Southeast Corner of Lumpkin Hall

 DATE AND TIME:      Beginning Tuesday, October 27, 2009 – Friday, January 8, 2010.

 PURPOSE:   Chilled water upgrades

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS / SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:    During this time, there will be construction noise and the operation of equipment associated with excavation and hauling away of debris, installation of new piping, and replacement of sidewalks.  There will be some sidewalk disruption during this work and the East entrance of Lumpkin will be closed the week of Thanksgiving.
