OCDI Program Information
- A minimum of one institute will be offered each semester (Summer, Fall and Spring).
- The institute will begin with a required face-to-face orientation session.
- The remainder of the OCDI will be conducted completely online with synchronous and asynchronous sessions required. (see schedule)
- The training portion of the OCDI is a twelve-week program in the Fall and Spring semesters and a six-week program in the Summer term. The same amount of material will be covered in the summer but in a shorter time frame.
- Various topics related to online course development will be explored each week. Two topics per week in the summer. (Go to the OCDI Home page to view the list of topics.)
Final Project (online course):
- The participant will design and develop a course for online delivery using WebCT for the final project.
- The participant is expected to implement information learned throughout the program into the online course.
- The online course will be submitted for peer review four weeks after the last training session.
- The course will be reviewed by two other participants in the OCDI and the OCDI facilitator.
- Each OCDI participant will be expected to complete a peer review of two other courses.
- The peer reviews will be due two weeks after the final project due date.
- The peer review will evaluate the overall design and structure of the online course using an online rubric provided during the course. Content will not be evaluated.
- At this time, the review is for informational purposes only and the results of the review will be shared solely with the course designer.
Certificate of Completion :
Upon completion of the OCDI program requirements including mandatory meetings, participation in discussion, submission of activities, submission of final project (online course) and peer reviews, the participant will be awarded a certificate of completion.
