Additional Training
The OCDI does not include hands-on technology training. OCDI participants with limited WebCT experience are encouraged to enroll in the Bootcamp or TECnet training sessions. Elluminate training is recommended if you plan to incorporate live audio/video conferencing sessions into your online course.
WebCT Bootcamp for Online Course Development | TECnet Workshops | Elluminate Training
WebCT Bootcamp for OCDI
The WebCT Bootcamp for OCDI is hands-on WebCT training designed to provide a series of work sessions in which participants prepare content for an online course using the most common WebCT tools while incorporating best practices in online course development. Participants of the Bootcamp are not required to be enrolled in the OCDI and enrollment is open to all faculty at EIU. Priority will be given to OCDI participants. OCDI participants with limited WebCT experience are encouraged to enroll in the Bootcamp.
After registering for the Bootcamp, participants will be enrolled in all six of the following modules. Attendance is expected at all six sessions within the series.
Module 1: Uploading your syllabus and learning content
Module 2: Organization and the communication tools
Module 3: Assignment submission and online discussion
Module 4: Creating online assessments
Module 5: Managing grades and using grading forms
Module 6: Creating a welcome environment and organizing the course content page

TECnet Training
TECnet offers a variety of technology workshops for faculty including WebCT and Elluminate. The workshops are beneficial in the development of online courses.

TECnet Training Manuals
Training manuals for all of the TECnet workshops can be accessed through WebCT. Log on to WebCT and select "TECnet Training" under the course list. If you do not have "TECnet Training" on your course list, contact the CATS Office.

Elluminate Live Training
Elluminate Live is a video conferencing system allowing the instructor to connect with students in live meetings over the web. The OCDI participants will use Elluminate Live during the online live meetings. Elluminate offers both live and recorded training sessions for the student/participant and the instructor/moderator. When registering for live training sessions or viewing recorded sessions, select Elluminate Live version 9.5. User guides are also available.
