We understand this is not only a transition for your student, but for you too. New Student Programs is available to assist you in addressing your questions and concerns. We hope this website will be a resource for you while your son or daughter is attending EIU.

Some important information to know:

  • Only students are allowed in the academic advisement sessions.
  • Family members have their own orientation program.
  • Gateway/Boost parents have an orientation program as well.
  • Incoming freshmen must take "AlcoholEdu for College" between Aug. 1-18 and pass the course exam. Information is available at AlcoholEdu.
