An EIU fundraiser to fight malaria and save lives
Tuesday, October 13, 2009 from 3:00pm-6:00pm.
Eastern Illinois University and the Wesley Foundation encourage the campus and local community to join our campaign to raise money for “Nothing But Nets” and the fight against malaria.
Malaria kills more than a million people per year; 90% of those who die are African children. For every $10 we raise, we can buy a bed net that will help prevent the spread of the disease. Nothing But Nets provides the nets to those in need.
Create a team to help us prevent this tragedy!
To have your own “Nothing But Nets” team you need three individuals:
Teams will participate in an activity on Tuesday, October 13, 2009.
- Each team will be required to participate in one 20 minute slot between 3:00pm and 6:00pm.
- Teams must pay $30 to participate. The fee will be collected when the team checks in to participate.
- Teams will
participate in basketball, soccer and volleyball competitions.
- One team member will serve 10 volleyballs over the net within one minute.
- One team member will shoot 10 basketballs from various locations within one minute.
- One team member will kick 10 soccer balls from various locations within one minute.
- The total number of baskets, goals and serves made in the shortest period of time will be the team score. The high scoring team as well as the high scoring individuals in each category will receive award.
